Optimize the ignition of fusion reactors

A liquid sphere of deuterium-tritium (DT) wrapped in a dynamic shell could significantly optimize the ignition of fusion reactors. The combination of this target concept with a high-energy laser system under development will open a very attractive path to fusion energy.

A phenomenon known under the name of “cold welding”

Metals have an intrinsic capacity to repair themselves when, under the effect of stress, they can develop microcracks which, instead of worsening or remaining stable, close on their own, a phenomenon known under the name of “cold welding”.
