A robot can change from solid to liquid state
A robot composed of a magneto-active phase transition material (MPTM) can change from a solid state to a liquid state when heated by an alternating magnetic field. This technology would have applications in medicine by using a metal with a melting point higher than body temperature and non-toxic.
A revolutionary 3D printing method
3D printing of metallic structures at the nanoscale opens up incredible prospects in areas such as microelectronics, nanorobotics, sensor and battery technology. The technique can currently be used to print with copper, silver and nickel, as well as nickel-manganese and nickel-cobalt alloys.
