A new brain-computer interface analyzes brain activity via electrodes and neural networks reconstruct the images seen by a person undergoing EEG (electroencephalography) at the same time. The system generates convincing images that could be easily categorized in 90 percent of the cases.
Damaged middle ear has3D printed titanium parts
A man whose middle ear had been completely damaged in an accident hears again through a surgical transplant. Non-working ossicles were replaced by titanium parts produced on a 3D printer.
Artificial neurons behave like real neurons
Artificial neurons have been created that behave like real neurons. These silicon chips respond to electric signals from the nervous system through modelled and derived equations. They could be suited for bioelectronics implants to cure chronic diseases like heart failure, Alzeimer’s and neuronal degeneration.
