Hugging someone releases hormones associated with positive emotions
Hugging someone we love promotes the production of oxytocin in our brain, a hormone that plays a very important role in different behaviors, such as social recognition, empathy or even mother-child attachment. Oxytocin also increases levels of dopamine, serotonin and endorphins, all associated with positive emotions, and lowers the secretion of cortisol, the hormone responsible for stress.
