Biphasic sleep in modern times
For thousands of years people slept in two shifts with a period of wakefulness in-between. People woke up around midnight for a few hours called “the watching”. The watch was often a time for reflection and meditation. In modern times many people report anxiety, stress, depression, alcoholism and drug abuse. But adults who sleep consistently seven to eight hours live longest.
Maitreya’s comment:
“sleeping in two shifts is the best way if you wake up. Use the wake up break for meditation and sex. And be thankful for it instead of having negative and depressed thoughts ! As for your life : you can be thankful for it and enjoy the privilege of being awake while others sleep or choose negative way. Fear or love . Choose love !”
