Microsoft has developed 5D optical data storage on nanostructured glass using femtosecond laser writing. This hard drive, with a capacity of 8TB, can last a hundred centuries, resists extreme thermal conditions and consumes much less energy.

    A new superhydrophobic liquid-like surface

A new liquid-like surface (LLS) from self-assembled monolayer molecules (SAM) on a silicon substrate has become the most slippery surface available, capable of repelling water more effectively than any current superhydrophobic materials.
